vUSA Minecraft 1.0 SMP Server?

As probably none of you may know, I'm sort of addicted to Minecraft.
I know I can't be the only one here... Which is why I thought it may be a good idea to set up a whitelisted Minecraft SMP server for vMerikans only.

What I wanted to find out first, though, was whether or not there are enough people here who play Minecraft to make the ordeal worth my time.

Keep in mind that Minecraft was just released officially as Minecraft 1.0, and as of yet there are no plugins or mods that are supported by the game, so the server would be simply a basic barebones survival server. (Might also make a creative server in the future.) I sort of like the idea.

As for server rules, there really wouldn't be any, unless the players really, really want them. But the idea of a huge lawless area where anyone could betray anyone at any time sort of intrigues me. I will probably enforce a no-griefing rule on most buildings and such through the use of my console. Stealing and player killing, however, will be allowed.

So, what do you guys think?

The eUS forum is probably going to set up something along these lines soon, and since most people play both eRep and vPop, I think it would be easier for everyone to just use the eUS one instead of doubling up.

I'm not at home right now, so I can't put the server up.
We also don't have many confirmed players atm, but I guess that doesn't matter too much.
